Jeremy D. Jarvis

Romantic figurative Original Oil Paintings on Canvas

Jeremy Jarvis’s work is mysterious enough to be fully understood only in the viewer’s imagination. The predominant image portrayed in his work is that of the illusionary human body. A moment in the time is stopped, a familiar face revealed, the grace of the body in motion captured. This extra element gives viewer’s the opportunity to explore a version of what they see or would like to see in that image. The viewer becomes a participant in the drama unfolding before his eyes.

Jarvis’s palette consists of shimmering colors in combination with pure monochromatic tones and translucent layers of oil. Adding rich brushwork to this harmonized palette, Jarvis, like a fine musician, composes his paintings to be sensuous expressions of his own feelings and emotions. Jarvis avoids strong color and stark contrast in his work because he believes this breaks the flow of lyrical paintings.

Jeremy Jarvis was born in 1977. He grew up in Southeast Michigan, in the town of Romeo. At the early age of five years old, Jarvis developed a pronounced taste for graphics and fine arts and a real gift for painting. His inspirations to paint and draw lead him to Chicago, where he attended The School of the Art Institute. He then graduated from Columbus College of Art and Design with a B.F.A, in Fine Arts, where he graduated with honors (cum laude) in May of 2000.

Currently, Jarvis is working in Columbus, Ohio. The subject matter of Jarvis's art reflects an appreciation for all of God's creation. Jarvis states, "God is the ultimate creator." By painting, he hopes to inspire his audience to take a deeper look into all that God has given us.

As a nationally recognized artist, Jarvis exhibits at galleries and museums throughout the United States. Some of these exhibits have been at "The Society of Illustrators Museum," in New York City, the "Springfield Art Museum in Springfield," Missouri and the "Art Leaders Gallery of Fine Art" in West Bloomfield, Michigan. Jarvis’s work has won numerous awards and his work also appears in private collections throughout the United States and as far as Africa. Jarvis's work has received national recognition and has graced the pages of many national and international publications.
