Konstantin Savchenko
Konstantin Savchenko is a worthy continuer of a family tradition. From his father, famous artist Yuri Savchenko, he adopted a distinctive manner of painting. However, Konstantin developed his own individual style, technique and color preferences allowing the viewer to distinguish his artwork from any other artist. In painting, this artist always tends to be deep and versatile, predominantly choosing warm colors. His every canvas is created in a perfect unison of color, motive and mood.
Konstantin often arranged his artwork in series. Among them he placed eternal romanticism of Venice, style perfection of St. Petersburg, rich blooming bouquets, and the quiet charm of Russian landscape. The artist celebrated these favorite motives in a million different ways, each time finding new and inimitable harmony between image and emotion. With love and patience, he reveals his design step after step, presenting it as a book that we can read turning the pages.
The poetry of Venice inspired the artist to many wonderful creations. In a series dedicated to this part of the world Konstantin skillfully highlights the use of complementary colors. This style of art was well mastered by Delacroix at his time and then gained wide use among impressionists. Konstantin’s cold blue skies and bright lilac shadows are emphasized by rich colors of Italian sun and architecture. Graceful gondolas draw attention to the narrowness of Venetian channels and fronts of buildings insensibly melt into their reflection in the water.
Another city- St. Petersburg- in interpretation of the artist uncovers the meaning of its second name- Northern Venice. In his artistic series depicting this city Konstantin pays much attention to the silhouette and experiments with a changing face of the city, unique in every moment of the day.
In the art work of Konstantin, floral theme is vividly featured in many of his paintings. Numerous compositions and bouquets convey the variety of emotions; tenderness and festivity, autumn mood and summer bliss. Under the brush of the artist flowers are instilled with energy of life but still keep their attractive ornamentality.
As artists, father and son Yuri Savchenko and Konstantin Savchenko always follow one way in an attempt show to the beauty of orthodoxy and all the elevating power of this beauty. Together, they turn to the image of Lavra in Svyatogorsk which they regard as an allegorical starting-point of acme of Christianity. “Lavra in Svyatogorsk” and “Snow-Covered Temple” by Konstantin are symbolic of faith. That is why the artist renders a temple as an island that mankind can reach by the blessing.
Among other themes in the art work Konstantin, peaceful charm of Russian landscape occupies an important place, similar to that in his father’s canvases. “Spring Thaw”, “Autumn Time”, “Lake” and “Snow-Covered Birches”-these images tell us about the native land of the painter. In this subject line of his creative work, Konstantin is not as verbose as his father, but still, as any man of Russian soul; he does justice to lyrical spirit of native nature.
Konstantin Savchenko daringly interchanges the subjects and constantly develops as an artist. The key to his success is an optimistic perception of the world and creative energy that creates a variety of artwork from all spheres of life. The extraordinary talent of Konstantin allows him to transform visible world and reveal its perfection and this is possible only for the artist in love with life.
