Ekaterina Ermilkina paints cityscapes that are full of texture and color. She paints each piece with a union of applying and removing oil paint with a palette knife. Further, her textured shapes enhance colors from the city, and background. In addition, she abstracts each skyline with rich colors, and layers of paint. These paintings resemble a mosaic due the heavy specks of color and shape.

Ermilkina was born in Russia, and now lives and works in New Jersey. She began her art journey at the School of Art of F. Vasiliev. Then, she advanced her studies at State Art and Industry Academy, receiving her Master of Fine Arts. Living there inspired her to paint large cityscapes and express the energy that comes from the city life. In addition, she studied architecture in her master’s program and traveled to Europe where she was struck by historical buildings. Ermilkina began her Urban Series to reflect modern architecture and an artistic approach with texture.

Ermilkina’s architectural collection is a study of texture and color. Furthermore, this creates a stunning pixelation of hues that soak in all of its surrounding colors.
