R. Henderson Artist

Whimsical Modern Animal Paintings

Learn More About R. Henderson

R. Henderson is a vibrant modern animal portrait artist. He creates original oil paintings. His work is known for its bright colors and bold brushstrokes. Many of his paintings portray farm animals. For example, his cattle subjects are particularly popular. His paintings are inspired by the works of Bob Ransley. Additionally, they are reminiscent of Post-Impressionist and Fauvist painters like Gaugin and Matisse. He uses his palette knife and drips of paint to achieve vibrant, engaging animal portraits. For instance, he portrays horses to ornery roosters and everything in between. He employs lush, bright colors. His thick palette knife strokes are perfect for creating the fluid feathers in his animal paintings. Subsequently, the three-dimensional quality of his work produces a highly realistic effect. Texture and color are his keys to creating truly captivating pieces.

R. Henderson graduated from art school. Afterwards, he worked as a painter in the air force. After losing his left arm in an accident, he traveled throughout the U.S. and South America. As a result, he familiarized himself with Western landscapes. From a young age, he enjoyed depicting animals. Now, he continues to do so in his professional career.

Henderson’s works are displayed in collections all over South America, Canada and the United States. He continues to exhibit at Art Expo since 1996. Henderson also serves as a consultant on westernization for various cultural committees in South Korea.
