Kim creates his original oil paintings by using a pallet knife instead of a paintbrush. As a result, this adds significant bold texture to his paintings. He then fills the canvas with colorful jewel tone colors. For example, his vibrant abstract artwork primarily features blues, whites and reds. The texture and colors create an inviting, contemporary landscape or seascape setting for the viewer to get lost in. In addition to his contemporary abstract works, he also likes to paint street and café scenes.

Kim was born in Seoul, Korea in 1979. His father, Dae Chun Kim, is a famous artist and fine art collector. He specializes in the early era of westernization. Kim adapted much of his fathers painting style.
