Artist Biography
Nakisa Seika’s abstract landscape art features scenes that are bold and serene. As a skilled calligrapher, she combines traditional techniques with gold and silver leafing encased in resin. The addition of resin atop her imagery is what sets her art apart. For example, the resin finish creates the illusion of glass and ultimately adds depth to the minimalist landscape.
Seika is best known for her Oriental Garden landscape series. Above all, her Japanese heritage influenced the simple landscapes. For instance, her homage to nature is similar to the great gardens found in her homeland. The artist believes “eight million spirits live within us. Nature holds a number of them. In Japan, we feel closer to nature as it is a part of us.”
Nakisa Seika was born in Tokyo, Japan in 1979. Her childhood was spent visiting museums and attending theatrical shows. As a result, the drama and romance of the theatre left a lasting impression on Nakisa. Hence, this is evident in her current artwork. When she was fifteen, Sieka knew her goal was to travel abroad to pursue an art education. Consequently, Seika moved to the United States at seventeen and finished high school in upstate New York. After three years in New York, Nakisa enrolled at the Atlanta College of Art and majored in painting.
Seika continues to create her landscapes and refine her skills. She exhibits her art throughout the United States and Japan. In conclusion, Art Leaders Gallery is proud to be the exclusive Nakisa Seika gallery.
