David Martin’s artistic history has been shaped by natural growth, professional education and successful experience in the artistic community.
Martin is a natural artist by the definition of the word. At a very young age, he discovered an affinity with pencil drawing. By the age of 17, he was selling oil paintings and caricatures, some of which helped him earn a scholarship to the Ringling School of Art and Design in Florida. Martin changed departments three times from fine art to photography to illustration, and participated in an exchange program with the School of Visual Arts in New York City, eventually graduating with a BFA in Illustration and a certificate in photography. It is within the realms of painting, drawing and sculpture, however, that Martin find most compelling.
“I have become convinced that an eclectic approach, combining a variety of seemingly incompatible styles and media, makes for true invention and discover.”
Martin has participated in a number of prestigious fine art events including The New York Art Expo and worked as both an artist and instructor for Ringling after graduating. original paintings can be found on display in fine art galleries throughout the United.
