Information on Diane de Poitiers and the Pierre Argillet Collection

Dali was heavily influenced by literature. Likewise, the culture and history of France served as a muse for the artist. As an illustration, Diane de Poitiers is Dali’s homage to the french noblewoman and courtier. In summary, de Poitiers held great power and influence as King Henry II’s mistress and royal advisor. As an influential courtier, her wealth and status allowed her to be a major patron of French Renaissance architecture.

Dali created 21 original copper etchings with individual themes in addition to the various suites of the Argillet Collection. As a result, the spirit of Dali is larger than life. Above all, this is exemplified by his various interpretations. Dali’s view and visual imagery make him a work of art.

The Argillet Collection of Salvador Dali Drawings and Original Etchings is a collaboration between Surrealist Salvador Dali and art collector and publisher Pierre Argillet. Accordingly, this collection demonstrates the highest standards of quality, draftsmanship, and artisanship. As a result, this body of work is possibly the finest work produced by Dali during his career. During the years between 1934 and 1974, the two men created and published nearly 200 works. Ultimately, many of which have been displayed in some of the best known museums around the world.
