Learn More about Loredano RosinLoredano Rosin, along with his brothers Mirko and Dino Rosin, belongs to the last generation of traditional Murano glass masters. They were trained in the ancient artisan ways of glass blowing. For example, Loredano’s traditional training taught him all of the possibilities that glass had to offer. Loredano began blowing glass at the age of thirteen, and he developed a playful technique of manipulating glass. Although he learned all the traditional techniques of Murano glass making, he was more attracted by the process of shaping solid masses of glass. Additionally, he used silver nitrate to create subtle color striations in his figurines.
Loredano never worked for other glass sculptors. Consequently, this allowed him the freedom to experiment without being influenced by other artists. Loredano used his work to transmit his way of seeing and experiencing the world. He preferred to represent abstracted figures, which he felt gave him the greatest opportunity to describe human beings and his feelings. For instance, love, friendship and relationships are all recurrent themes. Paired figures help to create the visual and emotional tension that he constantly seeks in his work.
