While studying in Hawaii, Robert developed his signature glass sculpture series, Pohacu, named after the Hawaiian word for “rock” or “stone.” Ancient Hawaiians stacked stones to create rock sculptures that served as navigational tools across the islands. Inspired by these organic markers, which he discovered while hiking various Hawaiian trails, Robert reimagined them as glass stacked stone sculptures. His Pohaku series has since been showcased at art shows and galleries throughout the United States and Canada.

Born in 1982 in Michigan, Robert was introduced to glassblowing in high school by his older brother, Andrew Madvin, a renowned glass artist. He later studied glassblowing at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan, and the University of Hawaii at Manoa in Honolulu. While earning his fine arts degree at the College for Creative Studies, Robert began collaborating with his brother to establish their own glass studio, Axiom Glass, at the Russell Industrial Center in Detroit. Today, Robert continues to work at Axiom Glass, creating his unique sculptures and refining his artistry. He currently resides in Royal Oak, Michigan, where he remains deeply committed to his passion for glass.
