Jian Ye Liu creates brush strokes that seem flawless, his vibrant colors and impressionistic style brilliant. Liu continues to develop himself as an artist by experimenting with other impressionistic styles. Liu’s original paintings have been in a countless number of exhibitions including the China Art Expo, the Chinese Oil Painting Annual Exhibitions, the Singapore Group Exhibitions, and the Beijing World Trade Center in China.

Jian-Ye Liu was born in 1972 Fujian, China. During his childhood, Liu’s family lived with his uncle who was an architect as well as a building and interior designer. From him, Liu was able to learn the skills of architecture at a very young age. His elder brother, also an artist, taught him the traditional styles of classical painting. Liu would often go to his uncle’s architecture firm to get art supplies and paint.

Liu’s parents knew their son was gifted as an artist. On Liu’s first day of middle school, his mother bought him watercolor paints and paper. Liu’s excitement to paint the pond behind his house surpassed the issue of nightfall, even though it was so late in the day that it was too dark to see. This didn’t deter Liu; his imagination filled in the blanks and brought the painting to life. He has used that wonderful skill to this day when he creates his lovely landscapes.

Graduating from Fujian Province Shisi High School in 1989 and from Xu Bei Hong Art Institute in 1997. When Liu was a college student, he was fascinated by Monet’s work. His father, who had not fully supported his son becoming an artist, was so overcome with pride that he gave his son his blessing and wished him success in becoming a master artist. Liu’s hometown was known for its ponds and lakes, which provided him with the long hours of research needed to perfect his style of ponds and landscape painting. He especially enjoyed experimenting with the different lighting effects on the water created by time of day, such as; dawn mists, afternoon sunlight, sunsets, and night scenes of the water. After graduation, Liu traveled to France in search of inspiration and the ideal subject. During his trips, Liu was fascinated with the ponds and gardens he saw in Giverny, France. His love for nature grew as he traveled the countryside. His paintings portray a deep-found appreciation of the natural beauty that was discovered during his trips as well as the pond sceneries of his childhood in Fujian.

Jian Ye Liu original oil paintings have been acquired by numerous private collectors and represented in select fine art galleries throughout the Asia and the United States. Liu’s art is quickly receiving well-deserved national recognition. Art Leaders Gallery is proud to be the exclusive gallery for Liu artwork in Michigan.
