D.S. Kim was born on August 15th, 1961. As his grandfather was an art professor at a local University, it could be said that art was an inborn talent D.S. Kim had within himself. While in middle school, his art teacher noticed his talent in art and recommended further training. At that time he began experimenting with pastels and watercolors. After furthering his art studies, D.S. Kim graduated from Busan Art High School. In 1983, Kim received a degree from the Dong University of Art. In 1985 he became an art instructor for the Art Institute in Korea, where he worked for three years. His later travels to France can be seen in his work. His art reflects a love of the Mediterranean region with its red-roofed homes and white stucco hillside villas, beaches and gentle shorelines. Kim has works on public display at many public locations around the world and is within many private collections in Asia, Europe and the U.S.A.
