Brief Artist Biography

From an early age, Kime exhibited dual talents in music and the visual arts. Throughout his youth, he oscillated between these two passions, a recurring pattern that shaped his creative journey. Commencing in 1980, he embarked on a decade-long career as a professional guitarist. Yet, during evenings and spare moments, he delved into the realm of abstract painting, cultivating a personal style that would become his artistic signature.

Kime’s paintings serve as a visual translation of the ephemeral essence of music. Reflecting on his work, he notes, “As I gain more experience with the use of line and color, I begin to see a strong correlation between combinations of colors and combinations of musical notes.”

Drawing inspiration from Kadinsky’s theories, he perceives colors akin to musical instruments, each occupying a distinct frequency range. Moreover, he draws parallels between the quality of a drawn line and the dynamics of guitar strings—where a soft line mirrors a gentle pluck of a note and a heavier line corresponds to more forceful pressure.

In Kime’s artistic exploration, the intersection of color, line, and musicality transcends mere visual representation, evoking a sensory experience that resonates with the soul.
