Russian artist, Alexander Volkov, combines a lifelong love of architecture, landscape and still life subjects into is painting. He brings drama into his photorealistic artwork with a unique vision. Merging mood and atmosphere, his art brings forth strong emotions that create harmony. It is, however, the light in each of them paired with the fine detail that makes each one of these photorealistic paintings true masterpieces.

Volkov is a Russian-American oil painter who was born in St. Petersburg in 1960. In 1986, he graduated from the Department of Physics at Leningrad State University. During college, Volkov began showing work with a group of artists known as the “Brotherhood of Experimental Arts”. This group was a collection of underground art groups active in Leningrad during the 80s. Following graduation, Volkov worked as an animator at Leningrad Studio of Science Films. At the same time, he also worked as a stage artist for a small theatre. Taking his varied background and art experience with him, Volkov moved to the US in 1990 and made a life by painting the beauty of America.

While his focus is working in Oil, Alexander has a small selection of Charcoals, Watercolors and Acrylics. He offers a large collection of Limited Edition Prints on Canvas through Art Leaders Gallery and other select fine art galleries.
